Privacy Policy — North Albania

This Privacy Policy explains how the North Albania mobile application (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information. The App is operated by Terenc Pepa based in Shkodër, Albania (“we”).

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are

The App provides travel and tourism information for Northern Albania, including destinations, events, transport routes and ticket purchasing, and hiking guide listings.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

2.1 Information you provide directly

When you purchase a transport ticket through the App, we collect:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Country of residence
  • Trip details (route, date, number of passengers, bags)

This information is required to process your booking, issue your ticket, and send your confirmation.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Approximate or precise location (only if you grant permission): used to show nearby places, calculate distances to destinations and transport stops, and provide directions. You can refuse or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; the App remains usable without it, though distance-based features will not work.
  • Basic technical/usage data: such as app version and general error information, used to keep the App working correctly.

2.3 Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect or store your payment card details. All payments are processed by PayPal (see Section 4). Your card number never passes through or is stored by the App or our servers.
  • We do not require you to create an account to browse the App.
  • We do not knowingly collect information from children (see Section 9).

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process and confirm your transport ticket purchases
  • Generate and deliver your ticket, including a QR code, by email
  • Send booking confirmations to you and to the relevant transport operator
  • Show you nearby places, distances, and directions (if you enable location)
  • Respond to your enquiries
  • Maintain, secure, and improve the App

We process this information because it is necessary to provide the service you request (to perform our contract with you), and, for location, on the basis of your consent.

4. Payments

Transport ticket payments are processed by PayPal. When you pay, you are taken to PayPal’s secure checkout (shown inside the App). Your payment card or PayPal account details are entered into and handled by PayPal, not by us. We receive only confirmation of whether the payment succeeded, plus the booking details you provided.

5. How we share your information

We share your information only as needed to provide the service:

  • Transport operators: When you buy a ticket, your booking details (name, contact details, trip, and amount) are sent to the transport operator fulfilling that route, so they can honour your booking.
  • PayPal: to process your payment (see Section 4).
  • Email delivery: your ticket and confirmation are sent by email through our hosting provider.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.

Hiking guides

Guide profiles in the App show contact details (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook) that guides have chosen to make public. If you contact a guide through these links, that communication happens on the relevant third-party platform and is governed by that platform’s privacy policy. We are not party to those messages.

6. Data retention

We keep your booking and ticket information for as long as necessary to provide the service, to keep records of transactions, and to meet legal, accounting, or tax obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent (for example, location permission) at any time

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including transmitting data over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at info@northalbania.al and we will delete it.

10. Third-party services

The App uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:

  • PayPal (payments): https://www.paypal.com/privacy
  • Map and directions links may open Google Maps or your device’s map app.
  • Guide contact links may open WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook.
  • Videos on the home screen may be served from YouTube where applicable: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Opening these services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

11. International users

The App is operated from Albania. If you access it from elsewhere, your information may be processed in Albania and in the countries where our service providers operate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be reflected in the App or on our website. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
